O dakini (sanscrită: „dansator al cerului”) este o preoteasă tantrică a Indiei antice care „acompania sufetele morţilor spre cer”. Această figură buddhistă este susţinută în principal de buddhismul tibetan.
Dakini este o femeie cu un temperament volatil, care joacă rolul de muză pentru practicile spirituale.
Dakini pot fi asociate cu elfii, îngerii, şi alte fiinţe supranaturale şi sunt reprezentativele simbolice ale testării conştienţei şi aderenţei sadhana.
Conform legendelor, membri castelor regale indiene şi nobilimea îşi aduceau morţii în Nordul îndepărtat să viziteze Templul Dakinilor (situat la poalele Himalayei). Alte legende menţionează un mit tibetan care spune că dakinii au apărut prima oară într-o zonă izolată, „lipsită de om”.
Dakini sunt fiinţe ne-umane eterne, inorganice, care au coexistat cu Energia Spirituală încă de la începuturile timpului. În unele sisteme ale credinţei New Age, ele sunt angelice. Această paradigmă New Age diferă faţă de cea iudeo-creştină pentru că nu insistă asupra faptului că îngerii sunt servitori de bună credinţă ai lui Dumnezeu.
Mai mult, un înger este echivalentul Occidental a unei dakini. Comportamentul unei dakini a fost întotdeauna revelator şi misterios; ele răspund stării de energie spirituală din fiecare om. Dragostea este domeniul lor obişnuit – o explicaţie acordată ideii de dakini sau înger care se presupune că trăiesc în cer sau Rai. Manifestările unei dakini în formă umană se întâmplă pentru că, aparent, ele pot asuma orice formă. Adesea, ele apar în forma unei femei. Convenţional, un bărbat de acest fel este numit „daka”.
În buddhismul tibetan şi alte şcoli apropiate de practicile Yogacara şi Vajrayana, o dakini este considerată o fiinţă supranaturală care testează abilităţile şi angajamentul unui practicant. Multe poveşti ale Mahasiddhilor în Tibet conţin pasaje unde o dakini va veni să perturbe căutarea unui Mahasiddha.
Când testul unei dakini a fost trecut, practicantul este adesea recunoscut ca şi Mahasiddha, şi ridicat în Paradisul Dakinilor, un loc al beatitudinii. Trebuie notat că în timp ce dakini sunt deseori ilustrate ca fiind frumoase şi goale, ele nu sunt simboluri sexuale, ci simboluri ale naturaleţii. Există cazuri în care o dakini testează controlul asupra dorinţelor sexuale ale unui practicant, dar însuşi dakini nu este o fiinţă a pasiunii. Sexul tantric poate implica un „ajutor” dakini – o femeie instruită în yoga tantrică – sau o dakini „reală”. Ambele, cresc nivelul plăcerii erotice al participanţilor ajutându-i să se concentreze asupra unei stări spirituale de bucurie, non-fizică şi asupra plăcerii fizice a sexului în acelaşi timp.
Reprezentările iconografice au tendinţa de a arăta o dakini ca o figură tânără, goală, într-o postură de dans, adesea având o cupă în forma unui craniu uman plină cu sânge menstrual sau elixirul vieţii într-o mână, iar în cealaltă, un cuţit. Poate purta o ghirlandă de cranii umane, cu un trident sprijinit de umărul ei. Părul ei este adesea sălbatic, pe spate, iar faţa ei are o expresie mânioasă în timp ce dansează pe un corp neînsufleţit, ceea ce reprezintă stâpânirea ei completă asupra ignoranţei şi a egoului. Într-adevăr, aceste fiinţe de nestăpânit par a se desfăta în libertate în orice mod.
Există o conexiune între energiile divine ale unei dakini şi toate deităţile feminine.
Unii oameni cred că limba dakinilor este legată de cea a Antlantisului.
O dakini este zeiţa momentelor în care viaţa se schimbă. Distilaţii ale emanaţiilor arhetipale, dakinii reprezintă acele principii esenţiale din Sine care sunt capabile de transformare într-o octavă mai ridicată. Dakinii sunt „dansatori ai cerului”, îngeri devotaţi adevărului (dharma), partenere ale zeilor creatori ai Indiei şi Tibetului. Dakinii servesc ca şi investigatoare, muze, mesagere, chiar şi trişoare, împingând aspirantul după barierele luminării.
Aspectul furios al unei dakini este arătat de marea de cranii. Aspectul ei paşnic este arătat de frunzele de lotus. Asemeni zeiţei hinduse, Kali, rolul ei este să transmute suferinţa. Mâna ei stânga reprezintă lampa eliberării. Dakini reprezintă cerul, ea fiind simbolul pântecului, al golului, creativităţii şi potenţialităţii. Sunt obiecte ale dorinţei, purtând energiile cosmice care în permanenţă fertilizează sfera umană. Dakinii ne aduc plăcere şi spirituaitate. Ele provoacă dorinţa care aduce viaţa într-o fiinţă. Sunt suflete poetice şi cosmice, aşezate aici să ne tenteze la spiritualitate.
Se spune că dakinii au puterea de a încătuşa instant muritorii doar cu privirea lor. Oglinda minţii tale este casa misterioasă a dakinilor – partea feminină din fiecare. Dakinii păzesc cele mai adânci mistere ale Sinelui. Reprezentând inspiraţia şi înţelegerea non-conceptuală, dakinii te invită să te eliberezi de toate limitările. Sunt neconvenţionale, neaşteptate, spontane, dansând în minunată beatitudine, unite cu adevărul divin.

SAMIGINA, or GAMIGM – The Fourth Spirit is Samigina, a Great Marquis. He appeareth in the form of a little Horse or Ass, and then into Human shape doth he change himself at the request of the Master. He speaketh with a hoarse voice. He ruleth over 30 Legions of Inferiors. He teaches all Liberal Sciences, and giveth account of Dead Souls that died in sin. And his Seal is this, which is to be worn before the Magician when he is Invocator, etc.
MARBAS – The fifth Spirit is Marbas. He is a Great President, and appeareth at first in the form of a Great Lion, but afterwards, at the request of the Master, he putteth on Human Shape. He answereth truly of things Hidden or Secret. He causeth Diseases and cureth them. Again, he giveth great Wisdom and Knowledge in Mechanical Arts; and can change men into other shapes. He governeth 36 Legions of Spirits. And his Seal is this, which is to be worn as aforesaid.
VALEFOR – The Sixth Spirit is Valefor. He is a mighty Duke, and appeareth in the shape of a Lion with an Ass’s Head, bellowing. He is a good Familiar, but tempteth them he is a familiar of to steal.
